Description: This is my great-grandfather in an unknown military uniform. I suspect it was taken somewhere around 1900, possibly in Poland, Russia or Austria-Hungary, but those are only hunches. If anything concrete comes of discussion here, I'll edit this description to provide that.
Here is one response I got - from Ukraine, no less!
"It seems Wolfbear Abrahams is in the Russian (obviously infantry) uniform of the 1870-ies (the period somewhere of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878). The elements on his shoulders denote that he is a military musician (the drummer).
