Description: These .45ACP cartridges are from an unknown source. The bullet shape is one that I don't recall seeing before. The person that gave them to me was given a few hundred of them in US government cardboard ammo boxes but they are apparently reloads. The nickel-cased cartridge has a conventional REM-UMC headstamp and a nickeled primer. The brass one's headstamp has an uppercase F at 9 o'clock, an uppercase C at 12 o'clock and the number 5 at 6 o'clock - I'm guessing a Federal Cartridge Company military headstamp? It carries an unplated primer. Can anyone here identify the bullet shape or hazard a guess as to the source of these cartridges? My own guess is that they were just amateur reloads repacked into government boxes, maybe with an intent to deceive, but I wonder if there could be a military marksmanship unit connection.
