Recognized as one of the most anticipated shooting events of the year, the sixth annual Turkey Shoot, sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation, will offer even more challenges and excitement in 1999 as it moves to a new venue - The Meadows National Gun Club in Forsyth, Ga. The Turkey Shoot will be held Aug. 20-22, with more than $50,000 in cash and prizes in the offering, making it one of the highest paying shooting events in the nation. "We are very excited and proud to have a competition such as The Turkey Shoot coming to The Meadows. Without a doubt, it will be a great event for everyone involved," said Peter and Wendy Crabtree, managers of The Meadows. The professionalism of the Crabtrees, combined with Peter^s 25 years of experience at sporting clays course design have set the stage for one of the most exciting shooting events ever. Peter has carefully taken into consideration participants of all skill levels, making the course challenging to the pros and fun for the less experienced shooters. A 200-target sporting clays championship, with a National Sporting Clays Association division for competitive shooters and a Hunter division for recreational shooters headline the weekend. "Shooters can expect both wooded and open terrain that is absolutely ideal for sporting clays," said Peter Crabtree. Other action packed competition includes the Winchester Ladies Cup, a Sub Gauges competition and the Grand National and World Wild Turkey Still-Target Championship. Youth divisions, specialty events and fun games round out the weekend^s activities, which are designed for the whole family. "This shoot will offer participants the chance to attempt targets thrown from a crane more than 150 feet in the air, shoot courses designed by one of the best designers in America, make new friends and enjoy some special NWTF hospitality," said the NWTF^s Director of Field Operations Dick Rosenlieb. Shooters of all ages and shooting abilities are invited for a weekend of friendly sportsmanship and festivities including the Friday night BBQ and Saturday night seafood dinner.
