.204 RUGER NAMED BY OUTDOOR CANADA MAGAZINE AS “HUNTING’S BEST GEAR OF THE YEAR”

April 29, 2004

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR), the nation's largest firearms manufacturer, proudly announces that the new .204 Ruger cartridge has been chosen by Outdoor Canada Magazine as one of hunting’s “Best Gear of the Year” for 2004.

The newest Ruger cartridge was selected along with other winners because of its “originality, convenience, usefulness, and overall practicality for the field.” As further stated in the May, 2004 issue of Outdoor Canada magazine:

“Every year at the SHOT Show, one new caliber steals the spotlight, and this year the .204 Ruger did just that. Designed as the ultimate in centerfire varmint cartridges, the .204 spits a 20-calibre, 32-grain pill at a sizzling 4,225 fps. Ignoring the short-magnum trend, the .204 is the same length as a .223 Remington, only with a lot more speed. Ruger is chambering the .204 in two models of its venerable No. 1 rifle, and in three models of the M77(MKII). First out of the gate in developing factory ammunition for the .204 is Hornady, offering 32- and 40-grain bullets.”
