The 9/11 Revolver

(Guns and Ammo) - With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaching, there’s no better time to turn our attention to the American heroes who gave their lives on that fateful day.  GunsandAmmo.com is excited to join the National Rifle Association and the National Firearms Museum in promoting a piece of treasured history–the 9/11 revolver.

Look through the photos below for more of this amazing story.

This stainless steel Smith & Wesson j-frame revolver was carried into the World Trade Center on 9/11 by New York police officer Walter Weaver.

Officer Weaver, like many fellow officers and firemen that day, rushed into the Twin Towers to save victims trapped inside. He tragically lost his life, but his memory and the memory of his brothers who made the same sacrifice lives on in this gun recovered from the rubble of the World Trade Center.

Officer Weaver's family donated the gun to the NRA and it's now on display in the National Firearms Muesem at NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Va.

Today, 223rd Street in the Bronx has been renamed to honor Officer Weaver.
