Safety Recall Notice Issued for Certain Walther PK380 Pistols

(Guns.com) - Last night (10-4-2012) Walther America issued a recall for certain Walther PK380 pistols because of a defective manual safety. To be more specific, with certain models you may be able to discharge a round when the trigger is pulled even if the safety is engaged.

According to the press release, the issue was identified through an internal quality review and applies to models that were manufactured from May through September 2012, and have a serial number between PK101201 and PK112155.

The company recommends owners of these particular .380-caliber handguns to "stop using your pistol and return it to Walther America at once."

And warned, "Any unintended discharge of a firearm has the potential to cause injury, and we ask that you stop using your pistol until we have an opportunity to inspect it to make certain that there is no condition which will allow the pistol to discharge with the safety engaged."
