There is an interesting article in the brand new gun magazine called RECOIL on muzzle brakes, flash suppressors, and hybrid devices. Lots of life-size photos, although they are of devices 5.56. Still worth a look and a read. Kind of a neat new magazine. This is only issue two. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: No problem. I'm currently looking at Ak-47 flash suppressors as I had the Mosin nagant threaded to accept AK flash hiders. I did this because the Russian 7.62 tends to be a little bigger than the American 7.62 and I wanted to get something with the necessary room. the number out there is staggering. I'll narrow my list down and toss it up here. The guy that threaded my barrel used a guide and a die to cut it. I held the rifle while he did the threading. It took some muscle, a good grip, and avoiding the metal coming off the barrel as cut by the threads but it was done in 15 minutes. All hand tools, no lathe was involved. I used a 14-1.0LH die, which is the standard AK-47 thread. I did this in part because of the bullet size used in Comblock ammo and AK-47 muzzle brakes / flash suppressors / flash enhancers (yes I am considering one of these for the Mosin because I think it will look cool and this is more of a fun rifle than anything) are all over the place in varying prices. |
