Any closer to getting the ones you lost back?
There is a nice 4" S&W Model 28 on Gun Broker. Mine was a 6" model, but since those days I've come to decide the 4" model looks better to my eyes. And this one is not too expensive, so...? Harvey found a .40 Hi-Power I've been wishy-washy over There is a very affordable--considering the price of most Colts--Army Special on gun Broker that is appealing. Of the few categories I can see myself collecting, Colt revolvers are definitely one of them. A couple others will be catch as catch can. If I find a nice Star PD for a low price I might grab it. Thought I had one last month on GB, but as happens, the price jumped up as the auction ended. I doubt I'll run into a Seecamp LWS 25. I was talking about that one to the Seecamp rep at the NRA show. He seemed to think they don't turn up too often. Mostly the .32s and .380s. By the way, Seecamp is now offering Cerakoted pistols in every color under the sun. Honestly they looked kind of weird to me. That ancient Taurus would also be something I would have to run into at a gun show or even a garage sale... The one new gun that's tempting is the Colt Anaconda. I was really impressed after handling one at the NRA show, but at my age I don't need a .44 Magnum. For me, the Anaconda is just nostalgia, a revolver I had at a time in my life when I was keen on reloading for it and cooking up accurate loads. I'm past that, sadly. But they are beautiful guns--better looking in my eye than a Python. (The Anaconda would fit in a colt collection, though.) I replaced my East German Makarov twice, the second time for good with a Bulgarian model and it does everything a PM can do. It's not as pretty by a long shot nor collectible like an East German pistol, but Part of this whole "guns that got away" thing is enjoying the nostalgia. Depending on one's age, financial situation, interests then and now, and so forth, replacing them may or may not be the goal. It's fun to discuss, however. |
