I remember giggling when I saw R. Lee Ermey sporting a pair of 9mm cases in his ears during the shooting segments of a TV show he used to host.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I recall the range officers, who were on the range all day, sticking empty pistol casings (.38?) into their ears as protection. I don't know if those were authorized or just acts of faith but I do know they had to be worthless, maybe even counter-productive!
