They used to be a lot "cleaner" than LAPD. But as a former SoCal resident, I always wondered about the necessity of having 2 very large LE organizations covering much of the same territory. Yes, LASD is a county organization and LAPD is a city organization, but that megalopolis transcends the geographic distinctions IMO.
