There are other quite comical "Engrish" passages in the manual: "Chapter 7: Solution of malfunction: 7.4: When firing breaks down during the firing, push the forward assistant assembly to lock the bolt and make the extractor hold the cartridge reliably, then push the bottom of magazine upwardly to make it be the right place and caught properly. Pull the charging handle quickly, and observe if the cartridge shell or cartridge could be ejected out or not. If it works, push the charging handle forward quickly to reload and lock the bolt, then firing again. If malfunction occurs again, analysis should be carried out by checking if the extractor breaks, or gas tube or returning tube is blocked, or sealing ring works, etc., and take respective measures to solve it." In all fairness though, it's quite comprehensive and useful, with tons of diagrams and photographs (thank goodness). It even has a large fold-out page inside the back cover with a "exploded" view of the rifle with every single part correctly numbered and identified. I'm planning to completely strip the rifle down and give it a thorough cleaning over the next day or two, but I can tell you that this rifle is as clean as a whistle right OOTB. The trigger's not bad, but could do with a little polish. (not much as I'm sure the case hardening will be thin, just like on American AR's, and they've copied everything so faithfully) Yes, I've read Kim's excellent articles on the AR. He knows what he's talking about and I agree with all the points he covered, particularly what is truly "needed" on a defensive AR. (even though it will grieve me greatly to not load one up like a Cadillac. Yes, I saw the "hot discussion" note on the home page... Jerry's quite correct (as is Kim) that a 16" barrel is the ideal...it's short enough to be easily handled and fired effectively in tight spots, yet long enough to produce exceptional accuracy at long range. I will be able to do a direct accuracy comparison with my "M4", as I still have all the range data and the (best) targets from shooting my (sold) 16" barrel Dlask. It's going to be tough to beat, I can tell you that! |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I guffawed out loud at that "Engrish," and even called up my son and read it over the phone to him, at which point he laughed out loud as well. I love that stuff. I am kinda jealous--always have been--at your being able to buy the 14.5" rifles, which look so cool, and are truly M4 lookalikes. (Did you see the "hot discussion" note on the home page? I will not even COMMENT on keeping the rifle stock. No, I will not take the bait. ...oh, did you see Kim's article on on Setting up the Defensive AR15? He's got at least three of them now in different flavors...might be interesting for you. On a purely academic level of course.... |

) Jerry posted a message recently to the fact that he's fired all common barrel lengths of AR15s but ultimately prefers the 16" barrel. Of course he's trying to assuage the feelings of all the American civilians here who can't shoot the shorter barrels like you and he can.
