Coaches, shooters and others interested in participating in the 1999 Nebraska Invitational Small Bore High School Silhouette Shoot on Sept. 25 are urged to begin preparations for the event, said Alan Hieronymus, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission hunter education coordinator. "The one-day shoot at Pressey Wildlife Management Area south of Broken Bow is open to all junior and senior high school students who have successfully completed a hunter education course," he said. "All entrants must be sponsored by an adult who is at least 21 years old." All .22-caliber rimfire rifles are allowed, and entrants are urged to use the rifles they hunt with, Hieronymus said. Shooters practice from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m., with competition beginning at 10 a.m. The shoot is sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and supported by the Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Association. A free lunch will be provided by Hornady Manufacturing Co. of Grand Island and prepared by the Pony Express Ramrodders. Competitors may camp on the Pressey area, located 17 miles south of Broken Bow, Hieronymus said, which would put them in the area early for the Saturday morning event. More information about the shoot is available from the Game and Parks Commission^s Outdoor Education Center at (402) 332-5487.
