In a copyrighted article by Betsy Plisik, the Washington Times states that U.S. Representatives to the U.N. have spoken in favor of our gun rights and have pledged to scuttle any international disarmament of private citizens schemes. The United Nations is currently holding talks in New York regarding how to control the worldwide distribution of small arms to terrorists and warring factions. Included in this discussion are handguns, assault weapons, grenades and machine guns. Our representatives are drawn from the Departments of State, Defense, Treasury and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. One Stat Dept. official has already advised the council that we will not be a party to any agreement limiting the right of Americans to own guns. Interestingly, the noisiest call for civilian disarmament and the "spread" of weapons comes from the African delegations and the most opposition comes from the permanent members of the Security Council which are all arms producing nations. I am attempting to get permission from the Washington Times to reprint the entire text of the article here on the forum.
