Georgia Gun Permit Recognition

(AP News)

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Georgia's attorney general says two new states have agreed to honor Georgia firearms permits in a reciprocal recognition program.

Attorney General Sam Olens says the addition of Iowa and Wisconsin brings the list of states with such agreements to 26. Legislation passed in 1996 says that Georgia recognizes the firearms permits of states that recognize Georgia permits.

Other states that recognize Georgia licenses are: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

Olens' office urges Georgia firearms permit holders to familiarize themselves with the requirements and limitations on permits in any of the reciprocating states where they want to exercise their rights under the program.
