Thank you! Yeah, my Surefire G2X is pretty decent but they are a 123 battery HOG. ![]() I will see if I can get the exact generation of light as I have found it to be sufficient for "bump in the night" searches. For camping, it comes with me as well as 2-3 of the cheaper Chinese LED lights that I just put into different sections of my pack JIC I need a light. Will digest this information as I tend to like simplicity in my lights. The Olight might be a bit much for me. But I LIKE the output of the light. TJ |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi TJ, Your Surefire is a good flashlight but lacks many of the latest advances available in Tactical or General Purpose Flashlights. Today we have some really great flashlight with high outputs, high capacity batteries and multiple features that weren't available just a few years ago. My comments in this thread have been primarily been about the Olight brand because that is the brand I am most familiar with. Since you are familiar with the Surefire G2X Tactical flashlight I have compared the G2X light to an Olight Tactical flashlight for similar applications. As we look at these two flashlights keep in mind that this are Tactical Flashlight intended to deal with serious confrontations with bad guys. Which could end up with striking someone with the light. Surefire G2X Pro Tactical Flashlight Image below from FrankWhiton - Image Title: Surefire G2 X Pro Image Info: This is a Surefire G2 X Pro flashlight. Body Finish: The POLY is relatively smooth but there are indents in the Poly to improve gripping. There is nothing engineering into the body for cooling of the head from heat that may be generated from the LED. Serrated Bezel: The bezel serrations on the G2 X are flat, short and not sharp. Reflector: Has a standard Reflector that older flashlight use. The projected light edges end abruptly into the dark. The projected beam is a constant brightness from center to outer edge. Let me know if your G2 X is different than what I have stated here. TIR Lens: Not equipped as far as I could determine. The new technology is a lens that focuses the projected light. This lens technology allows a Tactical flashlight to have a very bright center beam and a softer surrounding beam. The combination of a very bright center and softer outer beam helps the user to see with out being blinded by the brightness of the projected center beam of light. Tail Switch: Equipped. Has a high standing tail switch that would be easy to operate. One negative of a tall tail switch that stand high like this one, is it might be operated sticking it into a pack. Battery: Takes 2/I23 style batteries. They offer a compact flashlight but they lack the capacity for long term operation. Their mAh ratings are low and vary with manufacture. The ratings are somewhere from 750 mAh to 1500 mAh but most 1500 mAh ABC batteries deliver less than a 1000 mAh. Lumens: 600 and 15 lumens. At 600 lumens, 1.5 hours run time. At 15 lumens, 52 hours run time. Waterproof: Unknown, since Surefire didn’t say the G2X was waterproof at their site; I suspect that it is not waterproof. Olight Warrior X Pro Image below from FrankWhiton - Image Title: Olingt Warrior X Pro Body Finish: Smooth but design provides good gripping. Serrated Bezel: Provided, but much better design than the Bezel on the Surefire. . Five Heavy duty, semi-sharp, extensions machine into the Bezel for striking. Reflector: No TIR Lens: Yes, provides a projected light using a lens instead of a reflector. The projected beam has a very bright center beam with a softer surrounding beam. Specifically designed for a Tactical Flashlight. Tail Switch: Yes, the tail switch is elevated but has three ridges engineered into the design so the light is less likely to be accidently turned on but still easy to operate. Battery: Takes a single, Customized 21700 battery with 5000mAh of reserve. Lumens: Level One - 2100-1000-300 lumens, Run Time: 2 min+100 min+23 min. Level One - starts at 2100 lumens and gives you 2 min of run time before it cuts back to 1000 lumens for an additional 100 min of run time, then drops to 300 lumens for 23 min. Level Two – 300 lumens, Run Time: 8hrs. 300 lumens is a very good every day light level. You can go directly to Level One 2100 Lumens by double clicking the switch. So if you are searching at Level Two and encounter a combatant, you can quickly switch to the 2100 lumens. Waterproof: Yes Both of these are good flashlights but the Surfire G2X Pro is dated in its design. The Surefire G2X is cheaper than the Warrior X Pro.
