I don't have a large lot, half an acre, so I replaced some power machines with electric. I now run an electric chain saw and an electric leaf blower. I've got at least a hundred feet or more of outdoor extension cords--no batteries for me.
I just have a big city lot now instead of the little over two acres we had in Montana and I'm doing the same thing except I'm going with batteries because our lot is an obstacle course. I replaced the lawn mower and the standard-duty weed whacker with electrics. The two Stihl units will probably never wear out but they no longer require annual maintenance because I use the canned premix fuel, too.. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Actually I should have started a new thread, but it's The Lounge, so-- ![]() ![]() I just had to have a carburetor replaced on my two-cycle string trimmer because--I think--the gas separated over winter last year. It's my last two cycle engine. The shop turned me on to that premixed/stabilized fuel that comes in cans. I use so little in the string trimmer it's worth it. I put Stabil in everything else. A friend tried to tell me it wasn't worth it but I thought that was baloney. And I run premium in all my engines too. We don't have much corn juice, er, ethanol around here, but that's probably--I'm guessing--because we are not a deep blue state? We've got some blue cities for sure but they haven't taken over our legislature--and we even have a Republican governor--so we don't automatically default to save-the-planet stuff here. (Gee. I my be spending too much time on the Politics Forum... I don't have a large lot, half an acre, so I replaced some power machines with electric.
