Never tried the Eley Club but I have used a lot of the CCI Standard Velocity. It shoots very well but has a lot of flyers.
That's odd! I have yet to see a flyer from the CCI Standard Velocity ammo. We used Eley Club ammo to shoot the targets below. The indoor range where I shoot has a maximum shooting distance of 50 feet. A couple of buddies and I were shooting one morning and when we called a cease fire and went down to look at the targets, they started making a big deal about my shooting these three bulls on an NRA 50-foot target. The left bull shows two fouling rounds, the center one shows a 5-round group, and the right one shows another slowly and carefully fired 5-round group. It took me those first seven shots to settle down well enough to shoot the last five. I think I'm going to adopt your 10-shot barrel-conditioning process... ![]() I told them they were giving me too much credit because anyone who follows rifle shooting basics can shoot a one-hole group with my Winchester 52C. I proved it by having them shoot the right and left bulls on the target below flanking another that I shot with the rifle. ![]() The right-hand bull has a .45 caliber hole another shooter put at about 6 o'clock after we finished shooting. I didn't realize I was going to save the target for pictures so I told him to go ahead and shoot it as he'd have no trouble telling his holes from ours. He was aiming at the larger sight-in bull in the middle of the target a few inches above this line of smaller bulls. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Never tried the Eley Club but I have used a lot of the CCI Standard Velocity. It shoots very well but has a lot of flyers. I shoot on a 50 yard outdoor range and try for MOA or less on each target. That does not happen very often with CCI SV. I will try the Eley Club next time I buy ammo. |
