I agree with your assessment. ![]() Re: Grouse--i don't know much about them. But when I was younger I experimented with loading reduced loads in the .30-06 using very light (for the cartridge) softpoints. I never tried them on game but they shot well, with good accuracy. I wonder how they would do on your grouse problem? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm sure you and every other member of this Forum are sick of hearing me say it ad nauseum but the venerable 30-06 can be used to hunt anything....ANYTHING in North or South America except for Kodiak Bears, Polar Bears and Grouse and I'm not real sure that with the proper bullet and it's placement you can't take the big bears as well? I'm 100% sure about Grouse, they can't be killed with a shotgun let alone a rifle.....believe me, I have tried for years! It's just my opinion but I believe the ammo and firearms manufacturers come out with the "round of the week" to pump up revenue. Old timers like me are more than satisfied with the existing firearms and ammo that we have and, have used all of our hunting / shooting lives. The new generation of hunters and shooters are attracted by things new and shiny, they can't help themselves.....waaaaay too much disposable income. |
