Long-time members will perhaps recall that I own a Witness 1911 P pistol:
Image below from Mark Freburg - Image Title: Witness 1911P ![]() I ran across another Tanfoglio polymer-framed pistol called the "Witness P," below. I ran it by my son, who told me he'd had a few come through his store back before EAA stopped importing Tanfoglio pistols. Here's a photo:
![]() I assumed this model was similar to my 1911 P, but apparently not. Eric told me this model's frame is almost entirely (or did he say completely?) polymer. No steel rail inserts, no steel inserts for the metal parts like the safety and slide locks--like my 1911 P has. I wondered about that but Eric pointed out what then became obvious. This second pistol is based on the CZ, rails-within-the-frame design, or as some of us might call it, the Petter style. With that info the pistol actually became a bit more desirable to me--but it isn't much different from my all-steel Witness Match, save for the construction materials: With all this to chew on, I realized the polymer Witness P shown in the middle photo is really not that desirable. How many polymer pistols does one guy need? I've got the 1911 P, which I bought just to satisfy my itch for a different kind of 1911--and it did that. (And I do have my "customized" old Gen 2 Glock 22 police trade-in that sits in the back of my safe.) I don't need any other plastic pistols, eh? I've actually own a number of them, but except for the above-named, they're all gone. |
