For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jerry used to say he liked shotguns with a regular straight butt stock plus a pistol grip because you could use them one-handed by pinching the regular straight part of the stock between your arm and body, sort of in your armpit, while steering the muzzle with the pistol grip if you suddenly needed your other hand for some other emergency. I don't remember him saying anything good about butt stocks replaced by a pistol grip. I've handled those Mossberg models and I can't imagine trying to control 12-gauge recoil and keeping the muzzle directed at a target with just a pistol grip at the rear end of the receiver. I haven't fired one yet and probably won't, but I have heard complaints from people trying to shoot just 20-gauge versions of that design. |
