For what it's worth, I've always owned a Hi-Power of one sort or another ever since I bought my first one a few decades ago, and I love the design. Probably my favorite was the .40S&W version, which I foolishly sold, but my current one is a 9mm Hungarian FEG, which is, in my opinion, as good as the FNs, and more traditional--being blued instead of painted black like the Mk.III FNs were. I had mine tweaked by Kurt Wickman, an FN specialist at Novak's .45 Shop, who added Novak sights, a Cylinder & Slide thumb safety, and a trigger job:
