I agree completely, I don't even like the feel of 1911s with the curved mainspring housings. Chopping off the corner off the bottom of the frame makes the gun feel completely different to me and ruins the ergonomics the gun is famous for. The only reason I've found articulated anywhere for this abomination is to make it "shorter" riding in some holsters so it's easier to conceal. By what? A quarter of an inch? Three eighths of an inch?  That's hardly grounds for ruining the way the gun feels and points.
