I agree! Getting $400-1200 off is like buying a new pistol for a used pistol price. Alas, those sale price numbers are still too high to interest me.
I also agree that there are cheaper guns that perform more than well enough for me and that pretty much describes all the 1911s I have. All of mine are Colts and I doubt that I have more than $1600 invested in any of them including post-purchase gunsmithing. That doesn't include the cost of add-on accessories like lasergrips and red dot sights that I would also put on the more expensive Wilsons. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Midway USA has some Wilson 1911's in stock. Some are listed as new but “open box”. Not sure what that means, display model, maybe? Some of the prices are $2400-$2500. That seems like a screaming good deal. What says the hive? I’m not a huge proponent of expensive 1911's as I think there are cheaper guns that perform more than well enough, Springfield, Colt, Dan Wesson. But these prices seem really low. |
