I don't believe in carrying with an empty chamber.
Me neither! The bad thing about being on defense as compared to offense in an attack is having no control over the when/where/how/who factors. Your half of the mortal danger situation often starts when you are already under attack and continues with you already behind and trying desperately to catch up. We don't get to act; we only get to react and the last thing we need to do is set ourselves up to suffer death by wasted time. Carrying with an empty chamber assumes that you will have two hands clear to rack the slide without short-stroking it or otherwise fouling up the operation as you draw. What if you don't? Most people seldom practice drawing from their everyday carry holster and can't tell you how long it takes to get off their first aimed shot with or without having to rack the slide because most ranges don't allow drawing and shooting from a holster. They'd be mortified to find out how much time either adds to just shooting from the low ready position that is allowed at ranges and is probably the less realistic situation they do practice. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yeah, they made a change to the owners manual. This would more or less kill the P320 as a Carry option for me. I don't believe in carrying with an empty chamber. |
