You Tommy Tactical name-dropping GunGeek! Why...thank you Jerry...that's quite the nicest thing that anyone's said to me in ages. I've tried several different sling arrangements, and have settled on a simple single-point sling with an HK-type hook attachment to the loop at the front of my Magpul stock. I also like to be able to quickly and easily detach the sling when shooting, and reattach when finished. The only thing I didn't like with the push-button QD sling swivels is that the swivels "swivel", allowing the sling to twist up, but that's not a big deal. I tried and dismissed right away a 3-point sling...the part of the sling that goes the length of the rifle just got in the way of everything. Your Counterpoise System sounds very interesting...I am going to look into that. I don't hear anyone talking about it here. I have considered the D ring under the extractor, but haven't bothered yet as I clean the bolt every couple of hundred rounds which also ensures reliability, of course. I'm trying to get the LaRue Tactical mount for my EOTech, which is also cam-mounted. It also raises the EOTech about a 1/4" or so. I want it not so much to 'lower' the irons to the bottom area of the sight, but to raise the EOTech itself, which I find uncomfortably low. We have "banned" the use of mag-couplers in our Tac Rifle matches, btw. One gamer taped 6 mags together SxS for his SIG 550 which was a bit ridiculous. Did you buy the ARMS 40L with a view to using a scope or somesuch? ACOG's are the hot ticket for the more wealthy gamers in our matches. Mike

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You Tommy Tactical name-dropping GunGeek! Lets see....... working from memory:
The sling arrangement is AWESOME. But it is hard to describe and easy to demonstrate. Basically the sling has push button release on both ends, which makes it QD because I don't like the sling dangling when not using it. In use, I hang the rifle muzzle down on the strong side, pistol grip at my hip right at my strong hand. All I have to do is grasp the grip and bring up the rifle - it is as fast or faster than drawing a handgun! The purpose for the funny forward sling attchment, is that in that location the sling does not "foul the draw" for my left hand as I grasp the vertical grip. This is the hot combat ticket for fast deployment in close quarters, so now you will have to get yours up to speed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
