| ha, i have one. picked it up off the classifieds 15 years ago, advertised as a 12 gauge shotgun, $100. when i got there it was a savage-steves sxs with 30" barrels, weighed about a millon pounds. blueing was ok, stock ok. looked like it had been stored in a closet for years. dude said I was the only one who responded and I could have it for $75 or $80 I think. took it to the gunsmith, he cut the barrel, put on a bead for $20. it has served me well ever since. I have even hunted quail with it in the past when the weather was cold and they would hold until you kicked them up. for the price, i dont worry about it too much. hard to find them anymore, at least around here. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: What happened to the old Stevens side by side? That was about as cheap as you could get! If they still make it, it would satisfy your need for a cheap, two-shot defensive shotgun and be easier to reload than an o/u as well. I still come down on the side of more capacity, though. Stu |
