At this point I won't completely rule out getting an upper in that chambering. However, I need to find out more about loading for it. I'm currently loading .223 using a Dillon Body Sizing Die and electric case trimmer. If I can continue to size the body using that setup I'd only need a neck-sizing die with a well-shaped expander spindle to neck the brass up to .25 caliber.
I've heard that they added a bit more taper to the body of the .25-45 in order to ensure good function. If that is the case then I'd need to have a full-length die and that would make the loading process a bit more tedious for me. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm not sure the novelty would wear off! You have been a fan of .257"-.264" rifles as long as I can remember and have never been satisfied with just one. You bought a .260 Remington not long after the cartridge appeared and still have it. I know you love the .257 Roberts. The 25-06 isn't a stranger. Having a .257 in an AR format would be just different enough to keep you interested for some goodly amount of time, I strongly suspect. Let's face it, the only real thing wrong with the .25-45 Sharps cartridge is the silly name! ![]() |
