I have 4 third Gen Smiths. The vaunted 3913, the DAO 3953, the 6906 and 5903. All are excellent firearms that run like a top.
I'm also on the cusp of gettkng rid of my last 10 Gauge shotgun, which ironically enough, I have considered one of my "Grail Guns". I keep thinking I'll use it more for Cowboy action shooting, but then the whole thing pops up of I need to pay to have target shells made for this shotgun which gets prohibitively expensive. I'm also on the edge of getting another long barreled 10 Gauge. Image below from TJ Parmele - Image Title: 10 Gauge Coach Gun ![]() It's difficult to open quickly as there is about of foot of heavy barrel missing, so it doesn't drop open like it probably should. I also had the safety disabled on it too. For a Cowboy action gun, it's not a bad shotgun outside of that.
I do have someone interested in a trade for it... I'm considering it.
I also moved on from Large bore Big Game Single Shot rifles.
The Ruger No. 1 I had in .375 H&H was traded for the 310 10MM Revolver. That's not something I really regret at all. Image below from TJ Parmele - Image Title: Ruger No. 1 375 H&H Uploaded: undefined
Image Info: Ruger No. 1 Single Shot Rifle chambered in .375 H&H Magnum with a Leupold Scope on it. ![]() I would definitely go for one of these in 7MM Mauser though if I can find one reasonably priced. They aren't cheap. For now, I'm thinking of sticking to handguns and aside from the SFAR purchase, keep rifle purchases to a minimum.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yeah. I still have a S&W 6906. But I don't do anything with it. |
