You're right about the safe handling, though if you took off your duty belt and laid it on a table, would you automatically note muzzle direction? We likely would after decades of handling guns, but it might not be automatic for a young airman, who wouldn't in a million years expect a holstered pistol to fire without being touched. ![]() As to the safety--yes the M17/M18 DO have a thumb safety. I presume that photo was a one the publisher's used. SIG now offers that poop tan color for commercial sales, I believe--so that wouldn't have been an actual M18. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: If that Airman had obeyed the 4 rules of gun safety, the pistol may have gone off but nobody would have been injured. I don’t see a thumb safety on that pistol. I thought the M18 had a thumb safety? |
