The advantage that I see for this cartridge is that it uses the .223/5.56 case without any significant modification except expanding the neck. Like the .300 BLK it works with .223/5.56 bolts and magazines. In other words the only change required to convert a standard AR is a barrel change.
Though there are bullets/loads for the .223 that will work for deer-size game, here in Virginia that is a non-starter due to game regulations requiring a caliber of .23 or greater. Chances are pretty good that here in Virginia the .300 BLK will work perfectly well for deer hunting. In places where shots may be a bit farther out I think that the .25-45 probably has the potential for a bit flatter trajectory. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I’ve read a little about this cartridge previously. I think it’s got some potential but I don’t think it’ll gain much of a following. It’s so close to the .223, people will say why not go with the more established caliber? On the larger side, there are already several calibers to choose from. The .300aac and 6.8, just to name two. |
