On my two trips to Montana the guides expressed their "distaste" for whitetails. They said a mule deer will run 50-60 yards then stop and look around, a whitetail, when spooked, stops running somewhere in the next county!
I never noticed that about Texas whitetails but it may be true in Montana. The very few whitetails I saw there were all moving fast and staying as far from me as the terrain allowed. Sometimes you could stop and turn a Texas whitetail with a whistle, not so with the few I tried it on in Montana. |

I saw some huge whitetails but they were on an express run to somewhere so I never got a shot. |
