In Missouri, your basic deer tag is an “any deer”. You can purchase additional doe tags. Up to 2, I think. This year, there is an additional doe only season running now for a week. This allows people to fill any unused tags on does. I could go out and shoot another one as I always buy 2 tags but the wife filled up our chest freezer with store food. So I don’t have the room. I’ve never been a trophy hunter, although I’ve ended up with a couple. I’m in it for the hunting and the meat. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Re: Alan's comments. I know you prefer a good-sized buck, but don't have a problem shooting a doe if that's what you are offered. (Doesn't Missouri also have different sexes on their licenses?) Anyway, have you always been willing to take a doe in lieu of a good buck? ETA: I just read your comments about does tasting better. That's interesting. |
