Eric's store had a huge sale Fri-Sun. I was going to buy a six inch EAA Girsan 10mm 1911 I'd seen online as the price was so good, but Eric advised me the specs had changed radically, enough so that I no longer was interested. Eric said he'd informed HQ long ago when his distributor let him know that the Exchange needed to change the photo and the specs, but somewhat typically, HQ didn't change things. There were no other tens that interested me, leaving me with only one other 10mm I've been watching for years, the Dan Wesson Razorback. It's a five inch pistol but otherwise nearly perfect. It has fixed sights, but since 10mm tends to come in only 165-180-200gr loads, and since I shoot 180s exclusively, this would probably not be a problem. But...the DW is $1800, not money I want to spend right now.
So, back to the sale. I did buy a pistol I really didn't need, but kind of liked. Back in 2018 I handled the Ruger Security-9 at the NRA Show, and liked it. Never followed up on it because I didn't need it. Well, AAFES had a version with a gray-blue frame that looked kind of cool. It's an RSR exclusive. The Security-9 is a double-stack, hammer-fired, single-action pistol with a thumb safety, and standard sights, although Ruger themselves make night sights and FO options that drift right in. Best part is that these are inexpensive. Standard black is $318, the colored models are $332. I got it for 20% off, and also got a two pack of spare mags, also 20% off. Since the pistol comes with two mags, that's four total, all I'll need I imagine. Anyway, you can start laughing at me now.
