My personal take on this is that this administration has the military so focused on social issues
That certainly is a problem IMO.Trying to integrate women into some of the combat roles makes sense to me if the women are physically up to the task. But humping with a 75-100 pound load is something that many women simply are not up to the task IMO. Upper body strength is a necessity. I know that very few, if any, women have passed the physical endurance to become Marine infantry platoon leaders, and a number have tried. I'm not being sexist with this, just trying to be practical. Other combat arms requirements can, and are being met by women, so I have no axe to grind. Heck, make them all fighter pilots or tank drivers! But back to the lethality of the 5.56mm. It has been questioned for years and nothing has been done about it other than trying to improve that round in the same caliber. (See my message to Mark.) Remember the definition of insanity -- do the same things over and over and expect a different outcome. End of rant! Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My personal take on this is that this administration has the military so focused on social issues that a change in rifle, pistol, or ammunition is pretty low in the pecking order. |
