For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I seem to recall his interaction with (then Captain?) Jim Land in Vietnam in the early days Land was a mustang who later went to OCS and became an officer. He got into competitive shooting and became a member of the Marine Rifle Team as a Second Lieutenant. After a couple of years, he started the Marine Sniper Course, which he later took to Vietnam. Hathcock had taken the Sniper Course from Land before Vietnam, IIRC, then became part of Land's command after leaving the Military Police unit he was first assigned to in Vietnam. Harvey |
