I've always been a huge fan of Ruger revolvers and that always made me a fan of Ruger pistols, by osmosis, I guess. My brain is the semi-permeable membrane... Wink

One of my favorite Ruger pistols was one that I should have kept--a P97DC (decock only) .45ACP. It was essentially part of the first generation, or second generation, depending on how you view them. From the original P95 came the P89, and the P97 was from that refined group. The P97 was completely reliable, ergonomic, and by simply swapping the original follower from a 1911 mag with a Wilson follower you had a 100% reliable P97 mag for the Ruger. And I have always liked the glass-filled nylon frames far better than typical polymer frames used today. Another thing I like about the Security-9.

With the exception of their old SR-9 and my LCP and LCP Max, I have never delved into the Ruger Semi-Auto pistols. Sure I sold P85s and such, but never owned them outside of the short period they were at my old shop.

My Dad had the LC9 (which I quickly convinced him to get rid of as he hated the DAO nature of the trigger) and the LC9S which wasn't a bad gun. He got rid of that for a S&W M&P EZ 9.

Seems to me that Ruger's biggest competition in the budget 9MM market are Taurus G3, G4 series pistols and the raft of products coming in from Turkey, where labor costs are some of the lowest in Europe, but they still have smoking deals.
