I've culled my "inventory" to mostly more modern semi-auto handguns, although I still have a couple of military bringbacks gathering dust. And there is still one revolver, a snubbie that lives in my office desk (just like in all those old black and white film noir movies).
Regarding long guns, I'm guilty of having a bunch of ARs and an AK just in case the balloon goes up or the SHTF or the Mexicans Iranians Chinese and/or Caribbean Islanders decide to invade the Midwest of America. And because I'm of an age, I'm thinking of purchasing a powered walker that I could hang a rifle scabbard on just in case. But I digress. I'd like to reduce the inventory even more, but there seems to be a lack of gun shows now in this area. I suppose I could consider auctions, but I do like the face-to-face of shows. Sigh. Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It seems the last poll asking what type of firearm was the most owned was a slam dunk for semi-auto pistols, with 40%. Well, they are the thing today, eh? Considering the poll allowed us to choose three, that was a clear majority. Revolvers were next with 20%, not too surprising for us seniors. In this day where everyone from the NRA on down suggests that every person in the country each owns twenty-seven AR15s, semi-auto rifles were next with 10%--interestingly enough, tied by pump shotguns. I guess everyone in the country also owns twenty-seven pump shotguns? Someone needs to tell the NRA. The next in line were military surplus bolt action rifles. That was one of my choices. And guys, no one at all chose bolt action rifles, as in the commercial variety. Oh, I suspect many of us own some--but they are not a large part of our collections. Interesting? Along with milsurp bolt guns was a vote for "some other type of firearm." I like to put that kind of option in polls because I just can never think of everything. I'd like to know what that choice represented here. And I'd love to hear any comments you all might have. |
