I'd guess there is a good engineering answer--Gaston probably wanted to use plastic as much as practically possibly. Can't imagine that something like a mag release would affect weight or durability, though.... | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: don't see why the Glock mags couldn't be steel Well, the outer tubes of Glock mags are plastic because the mag release mechanism is plastic. If the tubes were steel, they'd soon render the mag release on the pistol inoperative. Now, the $64,000 question is: Why is the Glock mag release plastic? I'll bet Jerry (otherwise known as the man in the white hat) knows!!! |
