I don't know anything about size 7 or size eight holsters. I don't have any of the one-size-fits-many-guns holsters. Each of my holsters is made for a specific gun, with the exception of a couple of Kydex holsters (that I don't use) that will fit a G19, G17, G22, or G23 . I tried a couple of those universal holsters (usually some nylon-type derivative) and found them sadly wanting. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks again, Bob. Although I am intriqued by the effect of the MMC sights on your XD-40, your affinity for Glocks, especially the G19, G23 class, dovetails with my inclinations. I have a few holsters (not near as many as you!) and noticed that the XD-40 would require a size 8 in that holster (same as my Ruger P95), while the G23 only required a size 7. That told me there was a difference (be it ever so slight) in the sizes of the G23 vs. the XD-40. And like you, I feel that the difference between the 4" XD-40 and the 5" tactical is not enough to rule out the larger pistol (Mike Davies, let your Canadian heart swell!), especially for winter carry.
