So, except for the protruding firing pin, how does the G23 measure up to the XD-40?

I can't answer that because, as i mentioned in the post, I haven't had the G23 to the range yet. BTW, some responses on other forums indicate that the protruding firing pin phenomenon is normal.

My wife doesn't "allow" me to do anything, and I don't "allow" her to do anything.

BTW, I don't know where you got the idea that the XD was the "end of the line" in .40 caliber for me?  Did I say that I would never buy another .40 pistol?  No, sir.  I'd never make that knd of statement.  No gun, short or long, that I presently own is the "end of the line" for me, regardless of caliber or configuration.  There are many others I'd like.  The only limitation is my wallet.  (And the fact that I haven't found an IWB for my M2 yet.)
