Did I say that I would never buy another .40 pistol?

No, you did not. What I recall you said was that you had always wanted a G23 and that if you had bought one (before you acquired the XD-40), it probably would have been your favorite carry gun. However, when you bought the XD-40, your satisfaction with it seemed to indicate that the urge to get a G23 had been abated, especially since your satisfaction with the grip of the XD-40 now exceeded your prior favorite grip, your H&K pistol. And you specifically compared the XD-40 to the G23, indicating that the XD-40 was, for the most part, a better .40 caliber gun for you when it came to recoil and the "sprooong" trigger feel of Glocks. But being the ardent collector that you are, I guess the need to fill that .40 caliber gap in your Glock collection kept calling.

When you get a chance to sufficiently fire your G23 and, perhaps, rethink your comparison with the XD-40, please let us know your thoughts. At this point, I am personally inclined to go with the Glock, but both the G23 and the XD-40 are readily available locally for about $450 or less. I won't have the chance to extensively test-fire both before I purchase one, so your insight will be helpful. I realize that I should not transpose your preferences to myself, but at least being able to handle both guns locally gives me enough experience to make up my mind. Or I can just buy them both.
