Am I wrong or is that a "field expedient" position? No use of the sling and an unorthodox, although not apparently unstable, base make me think it as far removed from a range position as from a combat situation. I would expect a sniper to be better dug in.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I've seen that image a number of times--I forget where it first appeared. I recall thinking it was surely taken on a practice range, but remember thinking the caption didn't make that clear. It certainly wasn't taken in combat!
