I think that the advantage that rounds like the .300 Blackout and the .25-45 Sharps have is that the only necessary change from .223/5.56 is the barrel. In other words, it is a fairly inexpensive change for someone who already owns a standard AR.
The 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel require a different bolt and different magazines in addition to the barrel change, making the transition to another chambering more expensive. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I agree. If the 6.8SPC and 6.5 Grendel are still very quiet on the defense front, relatively speaking, what chance has 6.8x45 or 7.62x40? And the same applies to Dale's "Sharp's .25." If Remington didn't set the hunting world afire with it's .30 AR, what chance this new one he mentioned? The only thing going for these rounds is the sheer gazillions of Americans riding the AR bandwagon. |
